Do you have minor skin spots and blemishing? Excessively oily skin? A glycolic chemical peel may be the solution!

Glycolic chemical peels are formulated from sugar cane and contain alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) that gently exfoliate the skin. Administered with virtually no downtime, this procedure simply unclogs your oil-filled sebaceous gland and removes excess sebum (the glue-like outer substance on your skin). The exfoliation penetrates and removes layers of dry, dull skin for remarkable results.

Your skin renewal cycle spans approximately 28-32 days, and a chemical peel speeds up the process. You will undergo a series of five in-office peels (spaced three weeks apart) will address your concerns, from aging skin to blemishes and those pesky skin spots.

Lactic Acid Peel

A lactic acid peel is the gentlest form of chemical peel used as a cosmetic skin rejuvenation treatment. Generally milder than glycolic chemical peels and derived from sour milk, this type of peel results in smoother, supple and younger-looking skin. Multiple treatments (up to eight) help diminish fine lines, acne, and a subtle lightening effect for hyperpigmentation—or brown spots.

There is virtually no recovery time, making lactic acid peels a good options for sensitive skin and clients with rosacea.

Salicylic Peel

Salicylic peels are sometimes referred to as a “Jessner’s Peel” after the inventor, New York dermatologist Max Jessner, MD. Salicylic peels use betahydroxy acid to exfoliate the skin and are especially good for the treatment of acne-prone skin. They effectively treat oily skin, blackheads, whiteheads and clogged pores. Rejuvenating benefits include the reduction of fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone and discoloration, as well as the stimulation of new collagen production.

The solution is layered on the skin to treat uneven pigmentation, acne, acne scarring and other skin complaints. Most patients report peeling and occasional crusting which forms within two to four days. Redness and swelling may last two weeks or beyond.

TCA Chemical Peel

TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid peels) are medium-strength, medium-depth chemical peels that rejuvenate and repair your skin. If you have skin discoloration, fine lines and wrinkles, sun damage and concerns about your skin’s texture, a TCA peel offers a more robust treatment. TCA peels clear clogged pores and the result brightens your skin and reduces dark spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, discoloration and acne marks.

Your skin will physically peel and the procedure requires approximately 7 – 10 days of downtime. You can expect a revitalized appearance and smooth, soft skin over the course of two treatments. Results generally last around 6 months or longer when supplemented with glycolic or lactic acid peels every two weeks.

Feedback from Patients

I am amazed at how rejuvenated my skin looks and feels. Melissa chose a mild chemical peel for me, administered after dermaplaning. I had very little peeling (I wouldn’t even call it peeling) and look 10 years younger. Obviously, removing layers of dead skin and impurities is the key to looking our best. — Ruth T.
